1st/2nd Year Charm School

On September 18th, 2021, many of our first and second year cadets attended the Blackjack Wing’s First Year Charm School. Over the course of six hours, these aspiring cadets gained the skills and experience needed to prosper in AFJROTC. They went through a strenuous physical fitness course, practiced drill and marching in groups, and learned the basics of being a JROTC cadet. Starting at 0600, over sixty first-year cadets were trained by Maj. Jamal Williams, USAF, Ret., CMSgt Curtis Green, USAF, Ret., and the many third and fourth year cadets that volunteered to help.

Cadet testimonials

"Charm school was a fun and challenging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. It pushed me to my limit and taught me things that I will remember for a long time. I was consistently learning throughout the day, from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Despite the hardships of constant physical activity and people yelling in my face, it made me bond with fellow cadets and better myself as a JROTC cadet and as a person."

- C/Dario Javier

“Charm school was a little tough, but overall it was very fun. For example, PT was a little tough, but getting to talk & interact with other cadets & make great memories. What I took away from it was to always include your fellow cadets as well as motivate them. This is what Charm school did for me.”
