Aviation Nation @ Nellis Air Force Base 2022
The Blackjack Wing attended Aviation Nation at Nellis AFB on November 4, 2022. Hard-working cadets had the chance to go on base and see all things aviation-related, including the Thunderbirds Museum, World War 2 warbirds, and modern military aircraft such as the F-22 Raptor and MQ-9 Reaper. Cadets had fun looking at exhibits, bonded with each other and with other units, and learned a lot about the military and aviation. Then, cadets watched in awe as the legendary United States Air Force Thunderbirds performed their jaw-dropping airshow routine. As the show ended, Maj Gen Cunningham and Brig Gen Goodman, commanders of the USAF Warfare Center and 57th Wing, respectively, gave a heartfelt speech to the cadets about leadership and why AFJROTC is such an important program.
Curriculum In Action trips such as these are excellent educational experiences for cadets, as they learn a lot both in and out of the classroom. Thank you to Nellis Air Force Base for hosting Aviation Nation, the United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds” for the incredible performance, and all of the service members and other personnel that made this unforgettable event happen!
